The short version
CSMM is evolving into Takaro. Same team, same mission, bigger scope. Takaro is a complete rebuild with multi-game support from the ground up.
If you’re running CSMM today, nothing changes immediately. CSMM keeps running. But Takaro is where all new development happens.
Why rebuild from scratch?
CSMM was built for 7 Days to Die. It did that job well, but server admins kept asking for the same thing: support for more games.
Bolting multi-game support onto CSMM would have been messy. The codebase assumed a single game everywhere. So we made the call to start fresh.
Takaro was designed from day one to work across multiple games and multiple servers.
What’s different in Takaro
- Multi-game support: Rust, 7 Days to Die, and Minecraft from one dashboard
- Cross-server insights: Track players across all your servers and games
- Module marketplace: Community-driven modules instead of just built-in features
- Full REST API: Build custom integrations, dashboards, and tools
- Discord integration: Built in from day one, not added as an afterthought
What about my CSMM data?
We built a migration tool that helps you move your data from CSMM to Takaro. It’s a best-effort migration. Most of your data carries over, but some CSMM-specific features (custom hooks, commands, and cronjobs) aren’t compatible with Takaro’s module system.
To migrate:
- In CSMM, go to server settings
- Scroll to the experiments section
- Click “export” to download a JSON data-dump
- In Takaro, use the “import from CSMM” button on the servers overview page
What happens to CSMM?
CSMM continues to run for existing users. We’re not pulling the plug overnight. The timeline for deprecation depends on adoption. Once most users have moved to Takaro, we’ll announce a concrete end-of-life date with plenty of notice.
Try Takaro
The best way to see the difference is to try it. Get started with the free tier and connect your first server. Check out the full feature list or pricing plans. If you have questions, the Discord is the fastest way to get help.
