Astroneer

Takaro connects to your Astroneer dedicated server through the Takaro Astroneer Bridge, built by the community. The bridge runs next to your server, talks to Astroneer over RCON, and connects out to Takaro.

Your players don’t install anything. Everything runs on the server side, and the bridge needs no changes to your save.

For what Takaro does for Astroneer, see the Astroneer server manager page.

  • An Astroneer dedicated server, with access to its files
  • Permission to restart the server
  • Node.js 18 or newer on the server machine
  • A Takaro registration token (see Get your tokens)
  1. In Takaro, go to Servers and choose Create Server.
  2. The Add a server guide opens. Under Registration token, choose copy.
  3. Pick an identity token: a unique name for this server, like my-astroneer-server. Keep it the same forever. If you change it, Takaro sees a new server.

Every server in your community uses the same registration token. Keep it secret.

On Windows, open PowerShell as Administrator and run:

Terminal window
winget install OpenJS.NodeJS.LTS

Restart the machine afterwards, so node and npm work in new terminals.

  1. Download the bridge from the Takaro Astroneer Bridge releases page.
  2. Extract it into a folder outside the Astroneer server folder.
  3. If the download contains source files, open a terminal in the bridge folder and run:
Terminal window
npm install
  1. Open the Astroneer server settings file:
\astroneer\Astro\Saved\Config\WindowsServer\AstroServerSettings.ini
  1. Add or change these lines:
ConsolePort=5000
ConsolePassword=your-password-here
  1. Save the file and restart the Astroneer server.

Edit TakaroConfig.txt in the bridge folder:

IDENTITY_TOKEN=my-astroneer-server
REGISTRATION_TOKEN=your-takaro-registration-token
TAKARO_API_URL=https://api.takaro.io
HTTP_PORT=3535
RCON_HOST=127.0.0.1
RCON_PORT=5000
RCON_PASSWORD=your-password-here

Use the same password for RCON_PASSWORD as for ConsolePassword in AstroServerSettings.ini.

Start the Astroneer server first. Then run this in the bridge folder:

start.bat

Keep the bridge running while the Astroneer server is online.

  • In Takaro, open Servers. Your Astroneer server shows up once the bridge connects.
  • If it doesn’t, check the bridge window or takaro-bridge.log. Both the Takaro and the RCON connection must succeed.
